Procedure for Selecting the Right Program

Singapore offers a plethora of courses and study options. With so many study options available, choosing one is a tough job. You need to make a right decision for your future. Right timing and advice can land you in the college and course of your choice. So, follow the below mentioned pointers and select the program that is right for you.

Researching Phase

Do a thorough research on the courses and check the official website of the institute for the entry requirements. Jot down the colleges that offer the course that you want to take on.

Decision Phase

After doing a detailed research decide on your program, study mode and location.

Applying Phase 

You can apply online to the local universities in Singapore or even directly to some Universities. Furnish all the required documents and certificates while applying to the institutions. Check with the institute for specific documents required. For some courses and institutes you may have to undergo a placement test or interview so be prepared with that as well. 

Academic Requirement for Different Levels of Study

  • Diploma/Certificate: To get into Diploma, Advance diploma or Certificate courses, you need to hold minimum higher secondary education. However, some courses may have specific pre-requisite subjects.
  • Higher Education Undergraduate: To gain entry into a Singaporean undergraduate course you will need to complete a secondary school program or the overseas equivalent. Some undergraduate courses may also have specific pre-requisite subjects.
  • Higher Education Postgraduate:  The minimum entry qualification for a Master's by coursework and dissertation is a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent.
  • Higher Education Doctoral:  You need a master’s degree to get into doctoral program.

English Language Requirement

In order to apply for a higher education degree in Singapore an English proficiency test is required. Either a good TOEFL (Test of English as a foreign language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score is required.

You will be issued a letter of offer upon acceptance. Make sure to return the completed acceptance letter before the closing date. For details see International Tests

Financial Aid Phase

The Singapore Ministry of Education provides tuition grants to International as well as local students. In addition to these, there are assistance schemes from either the government or welfare organizations to help students cope with finances during their studies. So, research and apply for the same.
