Scholarships for Students at Secondary and Pre-University Levels

Ministry of Education (MOE) offers various scholarships to outstanding local students at the Secondary and Pre-University level. 

Programmed-Based Scholarships

Regional Studies Programme (RSP) Scholarships

This scholarship is offered to motivate students to pursue Malay or Bahasa Indonesia as a third language.
Level of studies: Secondary and Pre-University.

Special Assistance Plan (SAP) Scholarships

This Scholarship aims to attract and support a group of academically strong students who have the interest and capability to engage China’s culture and contemporary society, to pursue Chinese Language under the Bicultural Studies Program.
Level: of studies: Secondary and Pre-University

Language Elective Scholarships

This scholarship is provided to inspire students to pursue following languages: French, German, Japanese, Malay, Chinese, English or Tamil.
Level: Pre-University

Art Elective Scholarship

The Art Elective Scholarship (AES) is offered by the Ministry of Education to encourage academically strong and artistically skilled students to pursue the art programme at H2 and H3 Level available under the Art Elective Programme.
Level: Pre-University
Eligibility: The applicant must be a Singapore Citizens with outstanding results in their GCE O-Level Examinations / equivalent results based on the IP school’s internal assessment and at least an A2 in Higher Art or A1 in Art.

Humanities Scholarship

The Humanities Scholarship is provided by the Ministry of Education to encourage exceptional students to study the humanities at the pre-university level.
Level: Pre-University
Eligibility: The applicant must be a Singapore Citizen with outstanding results in their GCE O-Level Examinations / equivalent results based on the IP School’s internal assessment. Also, the applicant should possess an excellent co-curricular activities record and been enrolled to one of the Humanities Centres.

Music Elective Scholarship

The Music Elective Scholarship (MES) is offered by the Ministry of Education to encourage academically able and musically talented students to pursue the music program at H2 and H3 Level under the Music Elective Programme (MEP )
Level: Pre-University
Eligibility: The applicant must be a Singapore Citizen with outstanding results in their GCE O-Level Examinations / equivalent results based on the IP School’s internal assessment, and an A2 in Higher Music or A1 in Music. Also, the applicant should possess an excellent co-curricular activities record and been enrolled to one of the MEP Centres.

MOE Pre-University Scholarships

The MOE Pre-University Scholarship is offered by the Ministry of Education to outstanding students who have attained excellent academic results and excelled in extra-curricular activities.
Eligibility: Applicants should be a Singapore Citizen or non-Citizen with at least one parent who is a Singapore Citizen; have received an aggregate of not more than 8 points in the GCE O-Level Examination for English High Mother Tongue / Mother Tongue 5 relevant subjects/ equivalent results based on the IP school’s internal assessment.

The Prime Minister’s Book Prize

It is given to encourage effective bilingualism in Schools.
Level of studies: Primary, Secondary and Pre-University

The Lee Kuan Yew Award for Mathematics and Science

This Award is rendered to students for their accomplishment in mathematics and science and to encourage them to continue pursue STEM.
Level of studies: Secondary, Pre-University and Polytechnic

The Lee Kuan Yew Award for All Round Excellence (LKY ARE Award)

 This award is for students who have made excellent performances both academic and non-academically, and who possess strong positive character and leadership skills, and have urge to serve the community
Level: Secondary

The Lee Hsien Loong Award for Outstanding All-Round Achievement (LHL-OAA)

The LHL-OAA award is for the outstanding academic and non-academic achievements of post-secondary students.
Level: JCs/MI, ITE, Polytechnics and Autonomous Universities

The Lee Hsien Loong Award for Outstanding Bicultural Students (LHLA-OBS)

The LHLA-OBS is awarded to up to three outstanding students in the Bicultural Special Program (Chinese) [BSP(C)]. 
Level: Pre-University

The Lee Kuan Yew Award for Outstanding Normal Course Students (LKY-ONC)

This award is for students in Normal Academic and Technical courses for their academic accomplishments. It promotes them to keep striving for academic achievements
Level: Secondary (Normal Academic and Normal Technical courses)

The Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship to Encourage Upgrading (LKY-STEP Award)

The award is given to outstanding ITE and polytechnic graduates who have performed well academically and achieved good co-curricular activity records.
Level: ITE and Polytechnics

The Lee Hsien Loong Award for Special Achievement (LHL ASA)

This Award is for students from the North Light School and Assumption Pathway School who have demonstrated positive character development, attitude and dedication to work for the community.
Level: NorthLight School and Assumption Pathway School

The Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Book Prize (SHOAS Book Prize)

This prize recognizes the Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship to Encourage Upgrading (LKY-STEP Award) recipients who have achieved excellent academic results at ITE
